Guide on How to Care for Your Cosplay

Polyester

Polyester is very easy to wash. Simply turn garments inside out before washing and avoid using fabric softener as it damages the fibers. Wash at a maximum of 30/40 degrees using a detergent for delicate garments. You can tumble dry, but at low temperature.

Polyester fabrics can only be ironed with a steam jet, never with direct contact from an iron. Often ironing is not even necessary: if, after washing, you hang the synthetic garment on a hanger, there will be no trace of wrinkles.

To remove stains from polyester, use gentle products such as Marseille soap, white vinegar or lemon juice. Act quickly by gently dabbing the stain with a cloth soaked in the product.

Faux Leather (PU leather)

Faux leather is easier to clean than real leather. For daily care and lightly soiled surfaces, simply dip a cloth or sponge in water and clean the surface.

We recommend using warm water and mild soap — dish soap or liquid soap works well. Use a soft damp sponge or cloth and remove excess water. To remove dirt from faux leather, rub the fabric without causing excessive friction.

In the washing machine, set a delicate cycle with cold or lukewarm water, never exceeding 30 degrees. Use the right products: avoid fabric softeners or overly acidic and aggressive detergents, and do not use the spin cycle.

Gabardine

Machine wash at 30°C, do not bleach, do not tumble dry, dry-cleanable, iron at low temperature. Note: we recommend washing or steaming the fabric before use. Apply stain remover to a hidden area of the garment before using it on the affected area.

This allows you to check whether the product discolors or damages the fabric. Gabardine is a fabric that can generally be washed in the machine. However, it should not be mixed with items such as towels or other lint-releasing garments. Gabardine can be tumble dried provided a gentle, low-heat cycle is used.

Remove immediately at the end of the program to prevent wrinkles from forming. Alternatively, air dry, avoiding wire or very thin hangers. If the garment is still stained, check whether the product worked after washing and drying.

You can then iron gabardine at low temperature on the reverse side of the fabric to avoid damage. The best way to store these garments once cleaned is to hang them on a hanger and protect them with a garment cover.

Lyocell, Rayon and Wood-Derived Fibers

These are extremely soft, smooth and thin fibers — and above all, very easy to wash. Machine wash on a delicate program (30° is more than enough to wash and clean the garment perfectly) with a natural detergent free of bleaching agents.

Air dry (garments in these natural fibers dry in about 10 minutes). Do not tumble dry, as heat and friction can "raise the fiber pile," making the garment less shiny, smooth and bright.

This fabric is also very easy to iron — simply steam it quickly with a warm iron or iron at low temperature, and you will have no trouble removing wrinkles.

Various Tailoring Fabrics

This section includes: uniform fabric, viscose fiber, cotton polyester, polyester taffeta, polyester blend, matte satin, dense satin, satin, cotton lycra, cotton nylon blend, spandex blend, wool blend, synthetic wool blend with polyester blend, mesh fabric, stretch chiffon, georgette chiffon.

Hand wash in lukewarm water with mild detergent. Air dry on a hanger. Spot clean with a damp cloth for stains. Do not machine wash. Do not use irons or hair straighteners directly on the fabrics.

Store in zippered garment bags in dry areas away from direct light.

Materials

This section covers materials used primarily for accessories, cosplay weapons, cosplay armor or generic cosplay props to complement costumes.

The main materials used (individually or as a combination of one or more) are: EVA foam, PLA, ABS, PETG, TPU, acrylic, Plexiglass, translucent materials.

Do not wash or submerge in water. For surface cleaning, use a soft dry cloth. If the paint wears off, touch up with acrylic paint applied with a soft brush.
